Sometimes that truth can be painful though.
My Finnish tutor Maarit related to me a conversation she had recently with her daughter Ester, who is almost 4 years old.
The conversation went something like this:
Maarit: | So Ester, what would you like to do when you grow up?
Ester: | I would like to be a teacher.
Maarit: | And what would you like to teach?
Ester: | Olli. |
And the sad fact is that, with my slow progress in Finnish, it’s totally plausible that in 20 years’ time I will still need a tutor!
Awww, she is very sweet though! :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is from one of my work days:
ReplyDeleteMe: "What do you want to be when you grow up?"
5-year old girl: "A life guard. They get to stay on the beach all day and swim."
Me: "They have to save people from the water also, swim to drag the back to the shore."
*silence*
5-year old girl: "Maybe I'll be a mushroom picker."
